Review: Lush cosmetics Tea tree toner water

I didn't need yet another toner, but since I love all things Tea tree, I decided to give this a try.  I bought it in early Summer thinking that it will feel refreshing to spray it on my face during the day as a mist. But I read that I should be careful when I spray it because this tonic shouldn't get into the eyes. I ended up using it as toner instead ( which this is ) and not a mist as I had hoped.

The expectations

"Oily, dull or tired skin snaps into tip-top shape with a spritz of this refreshing toner! Cleansing tea tree, juniper berry and grapefruit waters get complexions looking luminous and fresh while also keeping excess oils in check. Plus, this alcohol-free spritz will never leave skin feeling uncomfortably tight or dry, so you can always put your best face forward. "

The verdict

This toner felt gentle on the skin. Meaning that I didn't notice any redness after use.
Yes, it was refreshing to use it. You can imagine it was, with al…

Review: The Body shop cleansing oil and balm

The Body shop cleansing oil
I bought my first bottle of this cleansing oil in the Summer of 2017 and I was not impressed. Yes, it was silky to the touch, it was gentle on the skin, it had a delicate scent, it melted most of my make up and it was not expensive. But it didn't remove all my make up and I should clarify for you that I don't use a waterproof mascara or a lot of make up. It stung when it got into my eyes and rinsing my eyes with water repeatedly was ineffective at diminishing the sting... And the bottle's pump leaked.
I wasn't going to repurchase this cleansing oil but when I  was waiting for Sulwhasoo cleansing oil ( which I absolutely love) to arrive from Korea, I ended up buying it. Again, the bottle pump leaked. And again, whenever it got into my eyes- it stung. If you read other reviews on line, and I encourage you to do so, you will see that some people love it while others mention the same negatives as me- doesn't remove all make up, it stings if y…

First impression: Madara Organic Skincare+ UPDATE

After I purchased organic hair dye on line, I was sent samples of Madara Organic Skincare. I was so impressed with some of the products I tried that I decided to share my first impressions with you.

The samples of different products came in the lovely pocket you see below.

On the inside of it I read the story of the brand. It looks lovely and stylish, doesn't it?

The first product I tried was the Milk cleanser. The Beauty junky that I am, I've tried so many different cleansers, but this one was super lovely.
First of all, the milky consistency felt amazingly pleasant to spread and massage on my face. At first I thought that it didn't have any scent, yet moments later I thought I could smell a very faint Which hazel scent or was it alcohol scent? Perhaps I was wrong, but there was definitely some very faint yet clean and energising scent there. Update: 27/08/17, I checked and alcohol is the 3rd or 4th ingredient in the list of ingredients. Why have they included it?
I was so …

Review: Tea tree therapy sheet masks by DearPacker

To be honest, I don't enjoy using sheet masks because they feel wet and cold. But  I will never be without them for one main reason: they lower the temperature of the skin and in this way diminish inflammation.
They are brilliant even for those of us without inflamed acne, because they make the skin look calmer and even toned.
Tea tree therapy sheet masks by DearPacker

I've not tried many sheet masks, and the ones I have tried were such a bad fit for my face, that I felt discouraged to try and find other masks. But not all sheet masks are created equal. The Teatree Therapy mask by DearPacker which I tried recently didn't have a very bad fit. I've had worse.

I can't say that I enjoyed using this mask, because I don't like the wet, cold feeling while it is on my face, but I loved the result of using it. And I also enjoyed its scent- gentle and flowery. I wasn't surprised that it didn't smell of Tea tree. My guess is, as with so many other Korean product…

Review: iUNIK Rose Galactomyces Essential Toner

This toner is one of my favourite finds this Summer!
I usually alternate between two toners on daily basis- The Body shop Tea tree toner and Mizon AHA & BHA toner. But recently I was given the opportunity to try the iUNIK Rose Galactomyces Essential toner for free and I am so glad I did. From the first time I used it, I fell in love with it.

It smells divine

This toner is rose scented but the smell is gentle and light. I actually look forward to splashing it onto my face and neck and then  take my time massaging it into my skin because I want to enjoy the scent for as long as possible.

It is moisturizing

The toner claims to be moisturizing and it is. But I also find that it is hydrating. What is the difference between hydrating and moisturizing?
Hydration apparently is about the amount of water in the skin and it is very important for healthy skin because moist, supple skin functions and heals better.
Skin products which "hydrate" have ingredients in them called humectant…

Review: iUNIK Tea Tree Relief Serum

A must have serum this Summer for oily, acne prone, blemished and sensitive skin

This serum is so amazing that I rushed to buy a second bottle long before I finished the first one. Here is why I am so impressed:

The claim is that the serum will deliver powerful relief for people with acne prone, blemished, yet sensitive skin.

When I first read that the serum is  meant for people with sensitive skin I assumed that it will be too weak for my super oily, acne prone skin.

The formula does not include Tea tree essential oil, but 67% Tea tree water, which also made me think that the serum will not be potent enough for my skin.

But I was wrong.

While using this serum my skin did not get any spots. At the moment I am on my second bottle of this serum and I am thrilled with the fact that it keeps my skin clear of pimples, supple, moisturized, nourished, soothed and bright.

I will be interested to know how well it calms acne. I expect that for people with acne, this serum would be a brilliant addi…

Advice for parents on how to help their teens have clear, acne free skin

When choosing skincare for your teen look for two ingredients: Salicylic acid and Tea tree oil. That is because the Salicylic acid unclogs the pores while the Tea tree oil diminishes the acne bacteria count.
Perhaps your teen is one of the lucky ones that can get away with using only two products for their acne, one with Salicylic acid and the other with  Tea tree oil. In other words, if your teen has just started getting pimples or if their acne is very mild, they can get away with just two products as long as one contains Salicylic acid and the other Tea tree oil. But most teens need to layer a few more products and this post is for them.
For most teens, more products are necessary because of the increased oil production which feeds the acne bacteria which then creates the red inflamed spots.
In this post I write about suitable cleansers, toners, spot treatment and I give a bit of dietary advice. Teens with more severe acne would benefit from serums, creams, masks and more changes t…
