Update 6th July 2017: The post you will read below was written in January 2017. At the time my experience with Cosrx BHA and AHA was not positive. But months later, I went back to trying these products with great results. To read my updates click on this link and that will take you to my post "Using the previously disliked Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid again? " which I published in May 2017.

For years I've been using Skin Doctors Gamma hydroxy cream and I've been pretty happy with it. It is a skin resurfacing cream containing both AHAs (glycolic and lactic acid) and BHA (salicylic acid). It keeps my oily acne prone skin free form congestion and pimples. There are only two things I don't like about this cream- the price and how "oily" it feels on the skin.
I read several positive reviews of Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid and AHA7 Whitehead Power Liquid and wanted to try them. I thought that if I could transition to using them instead of the Skin Doctors cream, I would save tons of money.
To read about Cosrx AHA and BHA products read this wonderfully informative blog post from Fiftyshadesofsnail.com
Even though I've been using Skin Doctors cream for years, I didn't actually know much about AHAs and BHA. So after I started learning about Korean skin care products, it surprised me that many reviewers, bloggers, and vloggers kept talking about things like actives, pH, water soluble, oil soluble etc. I had to take notes because it was all new to me.
I went ahead and bought Vit.C serum (C 21.5), Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid and AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid. I mention the Vit. C serum because I started using all three products all at once. Right or wrong, that is what I did.
How did I use the three products: I would wash my face, then pat it dry and wait 20min, then apply Vit.C serum ( which I kept in the fridge) and wait another 20min, then apply Cosrx BHA and wait 20min, then apply Cosrx AHA and wait another 20min before following with the rest of my skin care...Apparently all this waiting was necessary- something to do with the pH needed for the ingredients to work properly.

Then I read that I could save time, by using Mizon's Daily Clean toner (AHA and BHA) directly after washing my face and then I can carry on with the Vit. C straight away. Why the Mizon toner? From what I remember, again it had something to do with lowering the pH so that the Vit. C can work properly. ( if I got this wrong, leave me a comment) But at the time of trying the three products, I didn't manage to use the Mizon toner because it took ages to arrive. And even if I was to use it, that was only going to save me a mere 20min.
On with my story. I really wanted this regimen to work, but it didn't. I used all three products for a week only. And during that week, many painful breakouts came out. That really surprised me. I stopped all three products and managed to return the Vit. C serum but couldn't return the Cosrx products, so I still have them.
After that, to repair my skin, I used the amazingly soothing and nourishing Sulwhasoo Herblinic EX Rerstorative ampoules. Here is a link to my review of Sulwhasoo EX Herblinic Restorative Ampoules Then I added on Shiseido's Pureness line and other wonderful products and within a week my skin was better, thank goodness.
Why the Cosrx products did not work as well for me as they did for other people- I don't know. Were they too strong for me? The link below will take you to an interesting article. The blogger writes that purging is possible, and unpleasant results may be due to the formulation of the products not the active ingredients themselves. Perhaps my skin was purging and the formulations of the Cosrx products simply didn't suit me. Who knows.
