Galactomyces & Bifidalacto Complex products+ Several UPDATES

Did I like using Manyo Factory Galactomyces niacin?

No. I will not repurchase Manyo Factory Galactomyces niacin again.

UPDATE:31/08/17 It has been 7 months since I wrote this post and in that time I've learnt that Niacin is a very well researched skin loving ingredient. I will be purchasing products containing Niacin :-) and hoping it will "shrink" my pores.

UPDATE:28/11/2017 As mentioned in my previous update, I wanted to try a Niacin product and I chose Dr.Troub Skin Returning Niaten serum with 10% Niacinamide. I've been using it for 2 weeks now and so far so good. I think my pores look more refined, but it could be my wishful thinking that is tricking my eyes. Sadly, this product is only 30ml and at almost £20, I would not be repurchasing it. I hear that The Ordinary have a nice Niacinamide serum and cheaper.

Observations about applying the product and how it felt on the skin

Applying it (Manyo Factory Galactomyces niacin) felt like applying water. No scent, no colour, with a consistency that was a bit thicker than water. It felt cool on application. None of those are reasons to dislike the product of course.

After application, my skin did not feel or look any different. By that I mean that my skin did not feel more comfortable and nourished like it usually does with Sulwhasoo Herblinic Restorative Ampoules; my skin did not feel soothed and caressed like it usually does with Tosowoong's Osory oil emulsion; my skin did not feel energised and refreshed like it does with Sulwhasoo's Capsulized Ginseng Fortifying Serum; my skin did not feel caressed by luxurious silk like it does with The History of Whoo Qi & Jin Pore Care Essence.

You get the picture.

To be fair, there are plenty of good products that don't make the skin feel any better immediately on application. Missha Time Revolution first treatment essence is in this category. It was one of the first Korean products I tried. No scent, watery consistency and  it felt just like water on my skin. But after a couple of days, my skin looked as if I've had a super restful sleep. After a few more days, my skin felt softer and looked as if I've been to a beauty spa and gotten a lot of rest. In other words, Missha Time Revolution First treatment essence improved the quality of my skin over time, but Manyo Factory Galactomyces niacin did not.

While using it, because of the presence of niacin (apparently highly beneficial ingredient for our skin) I was hoping that my skin would look and feel better gradually. Perhaps the niacin did something good for my general skin health, but I didn't notice it.

I won't waste my money on this or any other similar product with Galactomyces again.

UPDATE: 31/08/17 I decided to give Galactomyces and niacin another go :-)  I think that when I wrote the original post back in January, I was quite cross to have wasted my money on the Manyo Factory products- they were raved about yet I did not feel that they did much for my skin. I thought I would never try similar products. But recently I tried iUNIK Rose Galactomyces Essential toner and that is one amazingly lovely product. There is a photo of it at the end of this post and a link to my review. Currently I do not use any Niacin products but plan on trying some soon. This time, I will be patient and just use it over several months remembering that it benefits my skin in the long run.

UPDATE: 28/11/17 I still love the iUNIK Rose Galactomyces Essential toner and will be repurchasing soon. On days when I don't have enough time for the whole 14 steps Korean skin care, this toner is my only hydrator. In the Summer I splashed it all over me- face, neck, chest, and shoulders. It is that good. I just wished that it came in a spray bottle. Here is my review of iUNIK Rose Galactomyces Essential toner

About Galactomyces- perhaps that's a nice enough ingredient ( time and more research will tell)  but my current  YouTube skin care guru says that there are not many studies to confirm claims about Galactomyces. I belive her. She is a science student and passionate about health and skin care. I trust she has done her research really well. Her YouTube channel is called Chronically Fabulous. Here is a video for you to watch if interested in information about Galactomyces.

The Bifidalacto Complex is another Manyo Factory product I used. This is another "fermented" ingredients product.  Now, that was one great product. It immediately provided soothing comfort for my skin. I loved how calm it made my skin. If I remember correctly,  the wonderful Missha Time revolution night repair ampoule has Bifidalacto as one of the ingredients.

Will I repurchase the Bifidolacto complex again?

Not any time soon. Because if I want a soothing comfort I reach for Sulwhasoo Herblinic Restorative Ampoules. They are totally soothing and amazing for healing the skin. I will never be without them.

Another reason to not repurchase The Bifidalacto Complex is that there are tons of interesting products to try and to be honest, I would rather repurchase Missha Time revolution night repair ampoule than the Bifidolacto complex.

What is your experience with Galactomyces? Let me know in the comments section below.

What "made" me purchase Manyo Factory Galactomyces niacin in the first place?

When I first got into Korean skincare I subscribed to several YouTube beauty channels. One of them was Gothamista-that is the name of the channel, Rene is the curator.  I loved Rene's informative videos. After watching her videos I felt  persuaded to purchase because she sounded so passionate about her finds. And I don't blame her, apparently the products worked really well for her skin type.

But after purchasing several not so good products as a result of her recommendations, now I watch her videos with a pinch of salt. That is because I've learnt my lesson-  "Listen to and take advice from people with the same skin condition as me". Rene has dry and quite frankly, perfectly flawless looking skin. Mine is extremely oily with large pores,  tons of different acne scars & hyperpigmentation. I need amazing hard working, supper transformative products, not the kind that keep an already good skin, looking great.

Don't get me wrong about Rene and her recommendations. I believe that she is honest about the information she shares and I still enjoy her videos. But we all have our own personal experience with products. Unfortunately for me, some of the products I've tried as a result of her recommendations I did not like using and will not repurchase. But just because these products were not loved by me, doesn't mean that you won't like them either. So, I would suggest that you read up reviews from several people. And perhaps listen more closely to the ones with similar skin type as yours :-)

We all write reviews in the hope  that YOU would find reading about our experience using a particular product- informative.

UPDATE: 23/08/17 I've been using a wonderful toner by iUNIK with Galactomyces

Best calming cream for acne prone skin- Sulwhasoo Herblinic EX Restorative Ampoules review

I first heard about the Sulwhasoo range from one of my favourite Youtubers- Lili. Her blog title is I am a beauty junky and that is also the name of her YouTube channel. I don't remember her reviewing the Herblinic EX Restorative Ampoules but when I researched several Sulwhasoo products she talked about, I found a couple of reviews on Herblinic and was intrigued enough to order samples from Ebay.  I bought 30 samples and they lasted me 15 days ( using them day and night).

From the very first application, my skin was nourished like never before. I could tell that this was one amazing product.

This honey like cream/serum is apparently packed with medicinal herbs which are said to  help nourish and  repair damaged skin. It smells herby and to me that scent is calming. It looks like honey but it spreads easily and little goes a long way. The application can be a bit sticky, but I don't mind that. One sample is enough for my face and neck.

After I used the first 30 samples, my skin…

Review: Naruko Tea tree shine control & blemish clear night gelly

As I am writing this blog post, I glance at the empty tub of the Naruko Tea tree night gelly ( that is the actual spelling on the tub)  I can't bare to throw it away yet. I absolutely loved using it.

But before I tell you anything else about this product, I must tell you this:  This was the best smelling skin care product I have ever used. I bet you are surprised. After all it is called a Tea tree night gelly and as we know tea tree doesn't smell nice at all. But this product does not smell of tea tree oil. Ok, may be there is just a hint of tea tree, but a nice smelling one. To be precise, the gelly smells like a fresh spring morning: crisp and cool, delicately scented as snowdrops  and with a gentle hint of mint. That's why I can't bare to throw away the empty tub yet, I keep on sniffing it...

The gelly applies smoothly and it feels very cool on the skin.  I didn't like that at first because I prefer skin care products that feel warm or at least not cool. But I go…
