Skin care products for oily skin Part 1

I've been using Skin Doctors Gamma Hydroxy cream for years and it is brilliant. It keeps my pores clean and prevents breakouts. It contains both AHA and BHA. I wish that it didn't feel as rich and oily on my skin and that it was cheaper.

Because I wanted to find an alternative product to this cream, I tried Cosrx BHA and Cosrx AHA. But my skin did not like these two Cosrx products. With the first use of these products I started getting breakouts. I tried to return them but the Amazon seller refused. So now I am stuck with these two products that I won't dare use again. It is such a shame that they didn't work for me, while many people around the world love them. So it seems that I will be using the Gamma Hydroxy cream for longer...

I purchased the  Innisfree Green tea Fresh cream because I thought it would balance my oily skin. I read about the benefits of  Green tea extract in skin care for oily acne-prone skin and hurried to buy this cream. But after using Innisfree Green tea Fresh cream for two days, I gave up. It is hugely moisturizing and it leaves my skin wet looking. Not only that, it makes it impossible for make up to stay in place. Throughout the day I had to pat my face dry numerous times because my skin looked wet and sweaty.

But then in order not to waste the product I started applying it to my neck and decollate and now I love it. What is particularly amazing is how well moisturized my skin is all day long. In the evening my skin is just as soft and moisturized as if I had just completed my skin care.

I don't know how that is possible. I've used several sleeping masks, but this cream is 10 times more moisturizing than them. In regard to balancing my oily skin, I will look for a  Green tea serum of some kind. I haven't found anything interesting yet. Will I repurchase the Innisfree Green tea Fresh cream, most likely not. Why? Because I'd like to try some other Innisfree products that people rave about. I anticipate that they will be just as moisturizing or even more so.

There is a cream I am keen on trying and that is The History of Whoo Qi&Jin cream. I had some samples of it and loved using it. It was just so luxurious on the skin and it moisturized, nourished, calmed and improved my skin instantly. I imagine that the anti-aging benefits of this cream would be amazing and if I was to use it for several months, my skin would be transformed.

But I will not be buying it any time soon because I started using the totally amazing Sulwhasoo Harmonizen Regenerating cream. Instead of the Qi&Jin cream I am thinking of getting the essence from the same line, because I am running out of the Missha Time Revolution essence.

I will try the Harmonizen cream for a couple of weeks and see how my skin reacts to it. Apparently this is Sulwhasoo's best cream to this date. It smells of rosin, the kind they use for the violin bow. I love that smell. It is the thickest cream I have ever come across. It looks like hair wax, it is that thick. But it spreads easily onto the skin and leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and supple. It is too rich for my oily skin, but I am after its magical  regenerating benefits so I will give it a go.

Galactomyces & Bifidalacto Complex products+ Several UPDATES

Did I like using Manyo Factory Galactomyces niacin?

No. I will not repurchase Manyo Factory Galactomycesniacin again.

UPDATE:31/08/17 It has been 7 months since I wrote this post and in that time I've learnt that Niacin is a very well researched skin loving ingredient. I will be purchasing products containing Niacin :-) and hoping it will "shrink" my pores.

UPDATE:28/11/2017 As mentioned in my previous update, I wanted to try a Niacin product and I chose Dr.Troub Skin Returning Niaten serum with 10% Niacinamide. I've been using it for 2 weeks now and so far so good. I think my pores look more refined, but it could be my wishful thinking that is tricking my eyes. Sadly, this product is only 30ml and at almost £20, I would not be repurchasing it. I hear that The Ordinary have a nice Niacinamide serum and cheaper.

Observations about applying the product and how it felt on the skin

Applying it (Manyo Factory Galactomycesniacin) felt like applying water. No scent, no colour,…

Best calming cream for acne prone skin- Sulwhasoo Herblinic EX Restorative Ampoules review

I first heard about the Sulwhasoo range from one of my favourite Youtubers- Lili. Her blog title is I am a beauty junky and that is also the name of her YouTube channel. I don't remember her reviewing the Herblinic EX Restorative Ampoules but when I researched several Sulwhasoo products she talked about, I found a couple of reviews on Herblinic and was intrigued enough to order samples from Ebay.  I bought 30 samples and they lasted me 15 days ( using them day and night).

From the very first application, my skin was nourished like never before. I could tell that this was one amazing product.

This honey like cream/serum is apparently packed with medicinal herbs which are said to  help nourish and  repair damaged skin. It smells herby and to me that scent is calming. It looks like honey but it spreads easily and little goes a long way. The application can be a bit sticky, but I don't mind that. One sample is enough for my face and neck.

After I used the first 30 samples, my skin…

Review: Naruko Tea tree shine control & blemish clear night gelly

As I am writing this blog post, I glance at the empty tub of the Naruko Tea tree night gelly ( that is the actual spelling on the tub)  I can't bare to throw it away yet. I absolutely loved using it.

But before I tell you anything else about this product, I must tell you this:  This was the best smelling skin care product I have ever used. I bet you are surprised. After all it is called a Tea tree night gelly and as we know tea tree doesn't smell nice at all. But this product does not smell of tea tree oil. Ok, may be there is just a hint of tea tree, but a nice smelling one. To be precise, the gelly smells like a fresh spring morning: crisp and cool, delicately scented as snowdrops  and with a gentle hint of mint. That's why I can't bare to throw away the empty tub yet, I keep on sniffing it...

The gelly applies smoothly and it feels very cool on the skin.  I didn't like that at first because I prefer skin care products that feel warm or at least not cool. But I go…
